Shall the City change the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W Bush Sewage Plant?
Someone is wasting tax dollars putting this proposition on the ballot. Everyone already knows President Bush has done a poor job in the Oval Office, but do we really need to resort to elementary school attacks? His performance will already be recorded in the annals of history.
Vote No on Proposition R and restrict access for whoever submitted this proposition from ever doing this again. Total waste of time and money and since time equals money, it costs twice as much.
THAT PLANT IS A BUSH
NEWSWIRE–Approval of a San Francisco ballot measure would have a pollution control facility renamed as the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Consider, as you give acclaim
To where you will excrete,
Whether loads by any other name
Would smell as sweet.

Light verse, ripped from the headlines
How exactly does putting this on the ballot cost taxpayers anything more than a negligible amount?
This is a federal election year. There is going to be an election. It will involve printing ballots, and voter information pamphlets, and all of the other things that go into running an election. The cost of adding a single voter-sponsored initiative to an existing ballot is infinitesimal. And the city controller says that even if this one passes, that the cost to The City would be “minimal”.
With that said, the Oceanside plant is one of the most environmentally friendly, technologically advanced treatment plants in the country. Attaching GWB’s name to this is insulting to the people who designed, built, and work at that plant.
The sewage treatment plant is far too good to be named after George Bush.
I don’t want to see that name anywhere in the city, in any street sign, or in any map. And also don’t want any of our taxpayer money spent on that either.
If those fools who submitted or support that proposition feel so strongly about it, then they should put a tatoo of that name on their rear end! and then they can go moon anybody they want.
W. deserves that insult & much more. I’m disappointed San Francisco defeated that measure, very disappointed. The name could”ve been rechanged later down the road. I’d be more than willing to pay an extra tax dollar. Whit, Minneapolis Mn.
