Movie Review: There Will Be Blood

twbb.jpgThere Will Be Blood is a thinking man’s movie. It can be described as powerful, poetic, and dramatic. It has won a bunch of awards across the world. Movie goers have rewarded the movie with a 8.5 rating on IMDb and a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Then why did I find it so lackluster?

The movie started off slow. The first ten minutes or so of the movie had no dialogue. I found that boring and confusing. The only thing I got out of the beginning was that this movie is about oil. If they wanted to show the viewer oil, there are plenty of other ways of doing it that does not take up ten minutes.

Frobie Shop Online

The Frobie Shop is now online.

I signed up for an Amazon affiliate a long, long time ago when Frobie.com was originally a listing of free after rebate products. When I lost my direction in terms of improving and marketing the website, the Amazon account drifted away into limbo. I didn’t have any use for the account and the hassle involved in closing down the account took much too long.

But now, the account has been resurrected.

It’s alive, ALIVE!!

Movie Review: Stardust

stardust.jpgStardust is a surprisingly good movie. I don’t remember seeing anything about this movie in 2007, so I watched it not knowing what to expect. Turns out, that made for a better viewing experience.

This movie is a medieval fantasy tale about a fallen star and the ensuing chase to obtain the powers to be had from the star. The movie includes all the classic fantasy elements, such as magic spells, evil witch sisters, royal siblings assassinating each other to be the next king, and a metro sky captain of an airship.

Pet Peeve #5

I was standing in a crowded bus this morning in front of the outward facing seats. The person sitting down got up to leave at her stop. In this type of situation, I let anyone sit down out of courtesy. Although grateful, some people are not considerate in return.

They take the seat but sit on the very edge. Doing so, their legs stick out into the path, right where I am standing. Need I remind everyone, the bus was packed as it is every morning. Standing room is scarce and a little bit of balance is lost when the handholds required further stretching to reach.

I noticed that mostly asians do this, usually old ones but the younger ones seem to copying them more often now. They would sit down on the very edge of the seat for five minutes, then slide back until they fully fill out the seat.

The question though is why? Are they worried that the ass heat from the previous occupant would affect them in a negative manner? Is it a healthier way to sit? Is a paganistic ritual designed to ward off evil spirits?!
